Hickman High School is a great place to be and as the PTSA we are excited to work to support you along with faculty, staff, and parents. HHS PTSA works together to support the entire Hickman Family. After all, WE ARE ONE!
How does HHS PTSA support students? Some of the materials in your classrooms may have been provided by PTSA; field trips you may get to attend may be partially funded by PTSA. We provide funds for student-directed school improvement projects–sometimes that includes new furniture, picnic benches, and other ideas brought to us by students. We also support programs such as the Hickman Review, the award-winning literary magazine, and the Reflections Fine Arts Competition. The winners of the Reflections program can win monetary awards from our HHS PTSA. You can submit entries in the areas of Dance Choreography, Film Production, Photography, Literature, Music Composition, or Visual Arts. We host a recognition program for students who are active in extracurricular activities at HHS. After all, service is a hallmark of PTSA. We work closely with your Student Government to assist where we can with other needs, such as helping with support for clubs and organizations, dances, and other student-directed programs. And we operate the Concessions Stand for many sports activities, so families have access to food and drink! We provide payments to clubs who sign up and help with running the concession stand at certain events, too. Our PTSA volunteers help out with school pictures, flu clinics, TIDE celebrations and other events–all in an effort to help you have a great school experience.
All students are welcome to attend our monthly meetings (which take place on the first Monday of the month unless otherwise announced) at 5:30 pm in the Hickman Library. Our meetings cover PTSA business topics such as updates on financial matters, we also discuss concerns, ideas, and kudos for the Hickman community. We would love your input!
HHS PTSA looks forward to working with YOU, our Hickman students, again this year!

Welcome to our new and returning students, families, teachers and staff!
Each August, we have the chance to start fresh with new goals and ideas. In that spirit, your Hickman PTSA leaders are excited to welcome ALL students, parents, and teachers to join at our monthly meetings and events. As parents, we recognize that as our students get older and gain independence, our organization offers a good way to help behind the scenes and stay in the know. PTSA offers a huge range of ways for you to learn and contribute to our diverse and amazing school community. However much time you have in your work and home schedules–a little or a lot–we have an opportunity for you to get involved! Examples include everything from dropping off food for monthly faculty lunches, joining a committee, donating funds for events or materials, helping at picture day, or working an hour or two at concessions or on beautification and landscaping. Or, you can find out more about issues and opportunities at Hickman by simply attending a monthly meeting and sharing your views and experiences. Monthly meetings are often the first Monday of each month (with a few exceptions!). Our regular meetings are hybrid: in person in the HHS Library at 5:30pm, and also on Zoom. Find instructions for joining us on Zoom via Facebook, email, our website (kewpieptsa.com), and the daily announcements.
WHAT DOES PTSA DO? Here are just a few of the ways our PTSA helps Hickman. For Students: We provide chaperones for events and dances, sponsor awards for students active in school programs, and financially support Hickman Review and Reflections winners. For Teachers: PTSA provides financial support for classroom supplies, grants, and regular teacher appreciation. For Parents: PTSA provides a support system to help navigate all the questions and ins and outs of being a high school parent. Our monthly meetings are an opportunity to interact directly with the principal, learn about upcoming changes, or discuss concerns. For all: We run concessions for sporting events–our main fundraiser that also helps us provide the refreshments spectators expect at our events.
HOW TO STAY UP-TO-DATE? Please consider becoming a member! To help our school community thrive, we know we need more of our Kewpie Family involved and helping direct the work of our PTSA. Volunteer to help with events, or attend a meeting. I highly recommend joining our vibrant private Facebook group–open to all. Visit our website for membership and other info, and be sure you’re reading the daily announcements for information about upcoming events and activities.
Our PTSA officers all know how hectic family life can be during the high school years. (My youngest son’s a senior, so I’m sure this year will be filled with major milestones and big choices.) Many of us find that involvement in Hickman’s PTSA helps us stay connected, not only to our kids but to the larger school community–our teachers, administrators, and other parents. I know involvement in PTSA made it easier for me to navigate all that’s needed to help support my boys’ educational needs–and to advocate for others. Hope you can find time to join us. Whatever your availability this school year, we need you!
We wish you all the best, and look forward to working with you!
